Empirical comparison between stochastic and deterministic modifiers over the French Auvergne geoid computation test-bed

چکیده

Since 2006, several different groups have computed geoid and/or quasigeoid (quasi/geoid) models for the Auvergne test area in central France using various approaches. In this contribution, we compute and compare Curtin University of Technology’s Swedish Royal Institute These approaches differ many ways, such as their treatment input data, choice type spherical harmonic model (combined or satellite-only), form sequence correction terms applied, modified Stokes’s kernels (deterministic stochastic). We also compared our results with most previously reported studies over order to seek any improvements respect time [exceptions are when subsets data been used]. All considered here same 75 GPS-levelling heights Auvergne. The standard deviation almost all computations (without fitting) is 30–40 mm, so there not yet clear indication whether approach necessarily better than other nor improving time. recommend more standardisation on presentation quasi/geoid comparisons that from areas can be objectively.

Comparison of remove-compute-restore and least squares modification of Stokes' formula techniques to quasi-geoid determination over the Auvergne test area

The remove-compute-restore (RCR) technique for regional geoid determination implies that both topography and low-degree global geopotential model signals are removed before computation and restored after Stokes' integration or Least Squares Collocation (LSC) solution. The Least Squares Modification of Stokes' Formula (LSMS) technique not requiring gravity reductions is implemented here with a R...

Comparison between stochastic and deterministic selection-mutation models.

We present a deterministic selection-mutation model with a discrete trait variable. We show that for an irreducible selection-mutation matrix in the birth term the deterministic model has a unique interior equilibrium which is globally stable. Thus all subpopulations coexist. In the pure selection case, the outcome is known to be that of competitive exclusion, where the subpopulation with the l...
